The Martian

   13 Reasons why
  Outliers
City of Bones

This week I read The Martian by Andy Weir. I loved this book. It is about an astronaut named Mark Watney who six days ago became known as one of the first men to walk on the surface of mars. Now he thinks that he might be the first man to die on mars. It started with the sandstorm that nearly killed him, and forced his crew to leave. Leaving him stranded with no way to contact Earth to tell them that he his alive. This book is about his adventure and journey on mars and how he survives, or doesn't!

My favorite character was Mark because it didn't really have any other characters. Also, I like him, he's pretty cool.

The Martian

The boy in striped pajamas is about a kid named Bruno and his family when they move out of their home in Berlin to an unfamiliar place called "Out-With". Bruno goes out exploring everyday. He goes past the boundaries that were set for him. He finds a fence and follows it. Then, he finds a boy on the other side of the fence. They instantly become friends and talk about their lives. One day the boy tells Bruno he lost his father. Bruno wants to help him find his father. So he goes onto the boys side of the fence. Interesting things happen.

This was a great but sad book. I loved it and I recommend it to everyone. My favorite character was Bruno. He seemed like a really good friend and a good person overall.

The Hobbit

This week Kam's book group will be finishing the Hobbit. I loved this book, even though I have read it before. This book is placed in a fantasy world with Dwarfs, Goblins, Hobbits, Elves, and Gollum. :) (Gollum is awesome). Bilbo must go on an unexpected journey that starts when the Dwarfs come to his door in his safe hobbit home.

Tolkien has a very interesting way of writing. Even though I don't like it that much I still recommend the book.

The Hobbit

This week I still read the Hobbit with my book group. I don't want to spoil what we have talked about in our group, or just spoil the book for you, (if you haven't read it) but, we talked about luck. How Bilbo has been lucky throughout this entire book and how it was "lucky" that he found the ring and things like that.

Anyway, like I said, I don't want to spoil the whole book but i'll kind of recap the book so far. Its about a Hobbit who is visited by dwarfs who want him to go on a journey. When he says no they leave, and he thinks it over and decides to go. They have a whole lot of adventures and they sing, and fight and the whole 9 yards.

I Loovve this book and recommend it for all.

The Hobbit

This week I read the Hobbit for my book group. I have already read this before, but it was just as good and I noticed things I haven't before. For those of you that don't know this book is about Bilbo Baggins. Bilbo is invited to go on an adventure. When he declines he thinks about it for a while and then actually goes. This book was very good and well written.

I think everyone should read this book because it is awesome! My favorite caricatures were Fili and Kili. They are very funny and cool.

No mature warnings

This week I read If I Stay, which was actually a lot better than I thought it was going to be. It is about 17 year old Mia Hall. Who has to deal with a catastrophic car accident. In a coma, in a hospital, Mia has an experience out of her body. She sees herself, she sees her friends and family visit her. Memories start to come back to her, and Mia must decide to stay alive and deal with a life far worse than she thought. Or slip away. Her decision is obviously life changing and very hard.

My favorite character is Mia of course because I like how strong she stays as she has to go through everything and the decision she has to make.

Elanor and Park

This week I read Elanor and Park. It was a good book. I recommend it for everyone. Unless I am mistaken there weren't any mature topics. Besides loooove.

It is about a red haired girl and an Asian boy named Elanor and Park they both don't have perfect lives but they found they find comport within each other. One day on the bus Elanor and Park awkwardly sit together on the bus until they come to the conclusion that they both like good music and comics. Once the science is broken, the two fall in to a tornado of looooove and their lives will never be the same.......

This was a very well written book, and I enjoyed it a lot.

I can't decide who I like better in this book. Both these caricatures come from pretty tough backgrounds and it's one of those books that I will never be able to decide who I like better.

But not before Julie (code name Verity) parachutes out. Maddie fortunately (who is Jewish) takes refuge in a nearby barn. Julie wasn't so lucky. When You Reach Me

When you Reach me      This week for my book I read: When you reach me By Rebecca Stead. It is a very good book and I think that everyone should read it. It is about a girl named Miranda and her best friend Sal. They know their way around New York City, like where things are and where things are safe.

Things then start to unravel. Sal gets punched for no reason. Her moms apartment key gets stolen, and she finds a note that says:

I am coming to save your friends life, and my own.
I must ask for two favors. First you must write me a letter.

The notes keep coming and she realizes that this person knows a lot about her, and it makes her believe she can prevent a death. Until the final note which makes her think she is too late.

I loved this book just because it was really well written and had a really good plot line, and great characters. I mean, that all books need right?

The next books I want to read are:

2. Legend
3. Looking for Alaska

Particle Physics

This week I read Particle Physics by Tom Whynite and Oliver Puch. This book was done by the same publisher and company as Quantum Theory, a graphic guide. If you didn't see that blog (my first blog) be sure to check that out.

This book basically explains the basics of particle physics in a really awesome way. Its pictures on almost every page, but there is also a heck of a lot of information. If you know nothing about these two concepts you should still read these books because you will feel smarter.

    No mature warnings.

ready player one

Ready Player One
Ernest Cline
Science Fiction

This week I read ready player one. It was a pretty good book. Actually it was a really good book. Most of you probably know what it's about. But I have to explain it anyway. It is about this kid on the outskirts Oklahoma. This kid is named Wade watts. and the only time that he feels alive is when he's playing the game oasis. This game is basically everbodys (in the entire world) life. Then suddenly the guy who created it dies. But before he died he made a video that you sent out to every Oaisis player. This video explained how he had put in an Easter egg in the game. This Easter eggs basically a giant puzzle with hidden keys. And whoever came up with the solution would inherit the entire Oasis company, if you can imagine if this is everybody's life then inheriting the company would be a big deal.

I love this book and I really recommend it to anyone who has not read it. No maturity warnings

Next three books I want to read
1. Code Name Verity
2.When You Reach Me
3.Grandmaster

Linda recommended, The Nazi Hunters, and I added it to my TBR list.

First Blog Post!!

I read a book called Quantum Theory: A Graphic Guide by J.P. McEvoy and Oscar Zarate. This is a non-fiction book, obviously about Quantum Theory. This is the book that inspired me to do Quantum Theory as a unit this year.
I would defiantly recommend this book to people who have no idea what Quantum Theory is. This book does a very good job about explaining who discovered it, what it is, why is it important, and it does all of that using cartoon pictures. It includes: Einstein, Schrodinger, Max Planck, James Maxwell, Thermodynamics, Quanta, and a lot more that I forgot.

My opinion on this book, is it was great. I learned a lot and did it in a fun way.
